About Alex and Crew
Alex and Crew was created to bring people together in support of a cause that's
incredibly close to our hearts. Through community-driven fundraising events, we
raise vital funds for Little Heroes, the wonderful charity that supports the Royal
Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
Our journey began when Alex, at just 18 months old, suffered a sudden and
devastating brain haemorrhage. She spent over a week in a coma and remained in
hospital for three months. During that time, Alex had to relearn how to breathe, eat,
and even smile. The haemorrhage caused lasting damage to the cerebellum—the
part of the brain that controls balance and coordination. It was later discovered that
Alex had an AVM (arteriovenous malformation) and this will mean that Alex needs to
return for an annual MRI until she is 16 years old.
Today, Alex uses a Kaye Walker to help her get around, and while her recovery
continues, her spirit is unstoppable. She is brave, resilient, and full of determination.
We owe everything to the incredible hospital staff and the unwavering support of
Little Heroes. Their care helped save Alex's life, and now we're dedicated to giving
back.
In 2024, our Alex Goes Walking campaign raised over £16,000. In 2025, we hope
Alex Goes Golfing can make an even bigger impact. Every pound raised goes
directly to helping children, families, and medical teams at the Royal Belfast Hospital
for Sick Children.
